Keeping your alloys damage-free not only keeps your car looking great, but also helps the car maintain its original value. Unfortunately, accidents can happen. Scuffed or kerbed alloys wheels are far too common. On those occasions, when your wheels find themselves in a damaged condition, you’ll want to restore them back to their former glory.
Steps for Alloy Wheel Repair

1. Get Those Tyres Off!
Deflate the tyres and break the bead, (push the rubber away from the edge of the rim). Cover them up with paper and masking tape. The best way is to take the tyres and valves off completely.
2. Get Them Cleaned Up
First step, give the alloy wheels a good scrub. a brush will be needed, with wheel cleaner and plenty of soapy water. This step can take a while, but it’s worth it!

3. It’s Scraping Time
Remove any loose or flaky paint with a wire brush and give the whole lot a good going over with some medium wet and dry or a Scotch Pad. Get into all those fiddly corners, scratching the entire surface will make the paint stick.
4. Smooth out any Dents
If any small dents won’t sand out, then it’s time to break out the Liquid Metal – which is a filling agent. Apply a liberal amount and sand it back when it’s dry.

5. Give them a Second Clean
Give the alloy wheels another clean. All of the dust must be removed at this stage. It’s a good idea to give it a once-over with some panel wipe too.
6. Apply some primer
At this stage, a few coats of primer need to be added before the top coat. Spray in a well-ventilated area and, to help the paint stick, make sure it’s not too cold.
7. It’s Painting Time!
An even coat of your chosen paint must be applied to the parts of the wheel that will be showing. One coat is often enough – but two coats should do the job. Depending on the paint you use it could be anything between a few hours to a couple of days before they dry and harden enough to go back on the car.

8. Reassemble the Tyre and Pop it Back On!
This step is self explanatory – just work backwards from step 2. It helps to be gentle with the rubber part of the tyre.
