Swansea’s brand new arena opens for the first time in March 2022, with capacity for 3,500 concert and event-goers. In this article we will discuss the how-to’s of the Swansea Arena Parking situation.
Currently, the brand new Arena has over 20 events scheduled for 2022, with more rumoured to be announced soon. Big names such as Alice Cooper – playing on May 23rd, and Rhod Gilbert on Apr 28th will be on centre stage, entertaining Swansea, and likely attracting tourists & fans from all over the UK.
See the Official Events website for more info.
Where Exactly is the Arena Located?
Swansea Arena is accessible by car just off the M4 motorway. Junction 47 is the quickest route if arriving from Carmarthen direction, or you can use Junction 42 if you are coming from other parts of the UK.
The exact address is: Oystermouth Road, Bae Copr Bay, Swansea, SA1 3BX.
Swansea Arena is also located in easy walking distance from both Swansea Train Station, and Swansea Bus Station.
Because of the easy access though, The New Swansea Arena might not be ideal for parking.
Where to Park
A number of car parks exist close by to the Arena, including two brand-new car parks built specifically, one on each side of Mumbles Road. These will add up to 1000 new parking spaces in the city centre.
Although, this is not the entire story. To accommodate for the expansion within Swansea’s already bustling city centre – a number of reductions were necessary:
- Swansea’s St. Mary’s car park will see a reduction in the number of total spaces;
- Parking for Swansea’s all purpose LC2 leisure centre has become more complicated.
This will likely add pressure to the already congested parking situation within the city centre, especially since the once popular Tesco Marina site is clamping down on parking for shoppers, and Swansea locals are being suggested to use the 460-space pay & display car park – which is already tight at peak times, not to mention the price.
Swansea Council official Rob Stuart has stated the following:
“I thank the citizens of Swansea for their patience and understanding as the major regeneration people have wanted for some time gathers pace. It’s going to be a game-changer for the whole city“
Swansea City Council
Reading between the lines a little, this implies that Swansea citizens will need to learn to adjust to the new influx of tourists to the city centre – like never seen before.
Additionally Swansea’s Park & Ride service offers additional options, but for Swansea locals, this may mean commuting to outside of the city in order to shop during the busy periods – not helpful for Swansea Arena parking!
What this means for you
With the increase of congestion within the city centre this Summer, it has been rumoured that parking within the city centre will become increasingly difficult, meaning a likely increase to the cost of parking, and an increase to the number of bumps and scratches within the city centre on your Auto.

What to do if your Car gets Bumped
Parking bumps and paint damage will likely put a damper on your day – if not your entire week. With more congestion, and a greater number of automobiles on the road than ever before, increased competition for spaces is at levels never seen before.
